Maybe one out of every thousand times something falls from the sky randomly, it will be a "falling knife." It could be a quarter your high friend flips at you because you're Jewish, or a nug - most likely the object that came from the sky is not a falling knife.

Do not be a hero, DO NOT try and pick a bottom. I have been burned SO many times trying to be a hero. The problem lately with retail investing, particularly uneducated folk who consume Cramer (I like him), but more importantly Financial News on Corporate-owned media networks, is that trends are followed too strongly. People sell rapidly, and people accumulate rapidly. Albeit, institutions have the master numbers, secret codes, power, knowledge, X amount of years of history in the business, and can profit to the nth-dimension. In a healthy market it is easy to become complacent. However, notice how even when Cramer talks about how volatile the market is, he is constantly recommending new stocks. Market manipulation I speak of is NOT NECESSARILY due to evil people, but as I have seen in so many world and social conflicts, structures of institutions are the overarching, not inherent, powers that guide human behavior and affect human weakness. This is why I could never decide between Psychology, Sociology, or Anthropology (Evolution).

So this is what I posted:

"Recession? Media is a powerful tool. The world markets should not be hit so heavily by what the non-ignorant have learned in the recent years, and especially over the history of the United States of America, how powerful an influence the dwindling-recession ridden country, which functions fine, for middle-class media consumers’ concerns, has on the stock market.
Maybe I am at fault for investing in ADR’s and not buying foreign stock but market manipulation, not “investor panicking” plagues retails investors’ minds. How can this amazing company go down? How could Apple, the future of computers, stock go down so much? To make sure you guys know I am at least partially right, I will assert that Apple is going to go down further, with the market, $100, maybe even $80."

The freaking market!...

The freaking market!!! dot, dot, dot...

Like I said in my last post, a month ago, the market would jump up temporarily, and then continue to drop. Today was not at all what I wanted to see." I used to follow OTC Speculator (http://www.otcspeculator.com, props on picking HRBN at $13-15 btw) a lot and I think he, and so many other bloggers, market commentators, and CNBC folks keep saying.

I am completely against the bull and bear binary opposition. The market is an animal; unevolved, like the people who play in the market. Computers controlled by greedy, insecure, and most likely, white, males, are the combination of red and green, up and down, days in the market that we have all felt so strongly.

People need to look at the market as the temper(ament) of a child. You can not stop a child from being angry, only reinforce good values and teach lessons that can help the individual grown. I saw the market turn down around four months ago and withdrew all of my positions. I was praised by a few individuals for exiting my positions. A day or two later I took new positions and lost. The market went back up and I was riding green. Red, red, red. I should have waited and let the coal cool off before heating it back up to put on the hookah.

My strategy for the next month, at least, is to invest in small-cap companies, and the most dominant large-cap companies.

Garmin is one of my favorite stocks because it is owned 44% by insiders. I also love Apple because they have good aesthetics in both products and company representation. The share of Macs in this world will only get bigger and they will continue to grow but I would like to see a more reasonable price that is lower than $150, which would represent a discount in iPod growth in the event that the "fad" aspect becomes outdated or the technology obsolete.

Garmin is self-explanatory.

Small caps include: IMMR, and NUAN.

Pure tech plays include touch-screen technology (IMMR) and speech-recognition technology (NUAN) which is used by Google's free 411 service. Both companies are at sweetLOOKING prices but we may never know if the price of the stock will go down unless we wait, which is the only safe thing to do.

Or invest in DBA like StocksShah... or lose money in Potash like me. I pray for an early morning bounce on January 17th, Thursday so I can cut my losses and sit down and plot my future winners.

Meanwhile, I am invested in CALL, SHTP, AEND, and MVIS.

Previous performance

EJ, a Chinese online real estate company announced a strategic partnership that boosted their stock up 10%. I used to love EJ and really want to invest but ended up forgetting the then-sideways headed stock for other endeavors.

NETC became a new favorite stock of mine, technically it looks great and they are in the semi-safe business of providing cable and internet services to the Brazilian population. NETC is up 10% since I noticed it at $11 and change.

Right now I am just hoping that FMCN jumps up because I have held it (without much loss thankfully).

ISIS Pharm may get some momentum after its big 20% gap-up. I am waiting for the gap to close back to $16 maybe $15 before I would enter. At least that is my excuse for not knee-jerk selling FMCN.

SHTP.PK better go back up and last night my friend told me about AEND.PK. Even before I read StockShah's Blog I was realizing the depth of this massive negative press that the market receives. For all us laymen know, we could all be fooled into thinking there is a recession and the government and corporations can all inform the American public and the intermingled global cash flow that our world's economy is growing healthy.

In reality, the world, Americans first, are realizing the depth of globalization and its effects on 1st and 3rd world countries and the rapid changes, politically and socially, it has on the global economy. StockShah pointed out to me that the Consumer Spending Report (officially, Consumer Expenditure Survey) will announce their data on January 15th. As per the job report:

"The unemployment rate rose to 5.0 percent in December, and
payroll employment was essentially unchanged (+18,000) at 138.5
million. In 2007, payroll employment growth averaged 111,000 per
month, compared with 189,000 per month in 2006. In December, job
gains continued in professional and technical services, health
care, and food services, but were mostly offset by losses
elsewhere, particularly in construction and manufacturing.
Average hourly earnings increased by 7 cents, which followed a
gain of the same amount in November."
There is not much data to analyze. Tobin Smith lost me a bunch of money on his ChangeWave Newsletter telling his subscribers to stay in the market and that while consumer spending has slowed down, it is not too low to change the economy. We will have to wait and see...

To reconcile the sorrows we investors share, I will share a stock that I will be learning more about in the "field." A friend of mine, at UCSB, alerted me (I believe after hours) about a company called ShotPak (Symbol: SHTP.PK). My friend alerted me to the stock at $0.08 and it went to $0.11 a day later.

He promotes SHTP's products, ShotPaks. Individual shot's conveniently packaged in recyclable containers. They sell online through ShotPak's online vendor for $0.99 which would sell like fire in liquor stores. SHTP is making a lot of distribution deals and they publicize all of their accomplishments which means much upside for this microcap speculative stock.

An important piece of information to note if you are considering investing money into ShotPak: The market is very unstable right now and this stock will be even more unstable trading in such small volume. More importantly, be very careful for fluctuations in this stock as the company has students at my university promoting this stock and their friends and other degrees of relationships will cause this stock to go up quickly but also drop down for profit taking.

Good luck

Trippin

I have been nothing short of tripping lately with the crazy fluctuations in the stock market. The IBD's Stocks on the Move stocks usually go up a consecutive day after they are featured. Regardless, if you feel like you need to enter, keep a tight stop loss. In regards to my own trading habits, I am still engaged in GIGM and FMCN as they are up a little bit today.

I feel like I am getting more acquainted with this market and I will allow these stocks to go up a little bit more where I can sell them, wait for the market to head back down again, and then enter on some better valued positions.

I really like EJ as a short/long term position because their 52-week high is $36, roughly 50% of the stocks current price.

CALL is a favorite of mine because it is a small-cap stock. CallWave specializes in mobile phone mobile voicemail access (using the internet to check your mobile phone's voicemail). They also have free applications for unlimited texting. These apps are adapted for Macs, Google, Yahoo, and other interfaces. The company has good connections.

MercadoLibre - MELI - has been getting good press from Jim Cramer. Synchronoss' CEO was featured on CNBC's Fast Money and the stock immediately jumped the next day. Then again, the jump was mostly due to the iPhone hype at the time that the CEO came onto the show.

1) There is technical support at $33 dollars (stop $31)
2) They make activation software programs (biggest client: Apple)
3) SNCR owns payment processing mobile phone applications.

SNCR is also featured on IDB's 100 (top stocks, SNCR is top 20).

Speculative play: LDK- Cheapest solar stock based on valuation and it is in China. They had some management issues in the past but as many people say, both the government, and the company, will do anything to not only save face, but make sure that there are no disruptions in the stocks performance and company performance. Never forget that the price may have dropped for reasons preferred by the stock's management. China was alerted on HotOTC's newsletter for having a large volume of buying. There is large insider buying at $6 and $8 per share and they make very useful business software. I have no idea about the financials but it would make a good short share with stop losses at $4.50. SIGM shows support around $50 (at the lowest a sell point). Short SIGM with a stop-loss at $55 to be safe. Feel safe long SIGM because they make IPTV and IP communications hardware. Sell on negative large volume. Although international trade organizations try and regulate trade, the World Trade Organization (WTO), the largest international agency monitoring trade and exchanges of capital, preaches on their website the importance of "free trade," even in their own defense of regulating trade (at the expenses of exploiting hundreds of thousands of people).

Not to invoke pity by my previous statements, I believe that shipping companies are the best investment for our constant, and obviously increasing, global (including local) development. Members on the Motley Fool CAPS forum raise questions about DryShips' management. If governments are corrupt, why should we expect large corporation's management to be squeaky clean?

TheBullTrader.com an excellent technical analysis blog recommended DRYS around $72 giving a stop suggestion of $70. What an excellent pick. The day after their recommendation the stock jumped 5% and appeared on the IBD Stock's On The Move chart (a list of stocks being heavily accumulated, meaning by institutional investors and individual investors) on the Investors.com homepage. The next day the stock opened 7% higher and closed at a +6% gain (10% in 2 days).

LVS - Las Vegas Sands looks to be heading near a support at $100 so I would highly recommend this gaming company. They own the Sands in Vegas and a monstrous casino in the rapidly developing state of Macau.

MON - Monsanto

I write the ticker first because in our world the ticker always comes first. I reviewed Monsanto on my favorite stock forum, Motley Fool's CAPS. The majority of people writing comments on Monsanto give the stock a green thumb up and speak highly of the company. There are also quite a few CAPS players who who have high CAPS scores who think highly of the company.

I must let everybody know that Monsanto may not be a corrupt company (financially), but certainly the management has made some terrible decisions in the past. I read studies and have watched a few documentaries in my Sociology/Globalization courses about genetically modified seeds/crops and monopolistic strategies both by company and products. As a naturalist/compassionate person, I hate the company. As an investor, I love the company. As a rational human being: I gotta eat!

If I could make money on Monsanto's profiteering I would. However, I do believe a small percentage of risk lies in their poor business decisions. Ultimately, investors should be safe with this global monster as capital has come before people so many times in the recent term development of globalization, the past 200 years.

New purpose of this blog

Ok, so this blog finna be my life now. It will be my diary of thoughts, for my archive and your entertainment. I lost about 35-45%: I have been between that number lately, and it has been getting smaller, thus the purpose of range of percentages.

Got back from Hawaii on Thursday; it was ill. Wonderful hot weather and crystal blue water, my grandfather paid for everything and I really enjoyed his 93-years of life and warm heart as perfect company.

My current positions are 30% of my profile in GIGM and 60% in FMCN. I like GIGM because they run Everest Poker in the EU and their profits should be good considering the presence of poker around the economically stable nations of the world. GIGM is also partnering with other digital gaming companies, specifically a couple developers, to create an MMORPG. Hopefully this business plan involves creating a union between the majority of heavily consuming gamers' countries. Either way, they are a stable company to make 10-20% over the next couple of months.

Focus Media (FMCN) is a digital billboard company in China. *Think* Clear Channel and Viacom as one company, in a country with 1 billion people, and a large percentage of these people are consumers. Billboards are annoying enough in our increasingly global capitalist culture. There are already several digital billboards in Los Angeles (see the intersection of Beverly Glen and Santa Monica ((near Century City)) ). A New York Times Travel article writes, "All over town there are digital billboards with a countdown to the Games. Down to the second." This quote signifies both the culture of advertising in China and the emphasis of their importance in the global world of culture. Note that the coming Olympics may serve as a point of profit taking for many investors. I am very worried about this common consensus and will plan ahead by setting stops for -5% the previous day's close on all of my positions in order to sleep better knowing that if I wake up to doomsday, my online brokerage will sell my positions.

Advertising is, in my opinion, the biggest business in any consumer-run large nation. With the claims of massive pollution in Chinese cities, many Chinese will want to leave China but until then, corporations are going to be fighting each other paying top dollar to brainwash the large rising rural-to-urban new consumerist population. There are many other Chinese companies that would make good investments but they will all have to deal with Focus Media. Not to mention, the recent press it has gotten from Cramer and other widely known investment media (IDB Top 100), it is a perfect time to enter a position.

Other stocks I like are EJ which is a technically good stock to trade. I know nothing about technicals but it looks like now would be a good time to jump in. VDSI has shown so much strength in this bear market of the last month (depression messes with my memory, maybe its two months) and has a 52 week high just under 40% of the current price of $27. Buy on any dips.

Heavy interest

With this market decline and my money OUT, I am looking for some strong positions. Refer to the graph of Sandisk (SNDK) when it was hovering in January of '07 around 40-45 then dropped to 36-37 in March '07. By April, SNDK bounced back to 45 and is now at $50. Home for the summer from college, working full time, and starting a blog.

I study human behavior while at school and live in Los Angeles. I plan to put only my best picks on this website. I have read numerous times how helpful creating a diary of anything can be and I am now fully committed to keeping a detailed diary of my stock interactions through the publishing of this blog for my own gain and hopefully others.

My history in the market includes: a 40% gain on APPL, a monstrous 120% gain on ONT, and a modest 15% gain on GIGM. Lately I have been fumbling up and down but am keying up for some big summer runs.

Random:

I am a very frugal person and love good deals. Slickdeals.net and woot.com are great websites for people who love good deals.
